How to Back Up and Restore GB WhatsApp Chats
How to create local backups in GB WhatsApp, store them safely and restore them on the same phone or a new one. Here is what you need to know, explained simply.
Why backups matter more with a mod
Official WhatsApp backs up to Google Drive automatically. GB WhatsApp cannot use Google Drive, so the only copy of your history is the one on your phone unless you copy it elsewhere.
Create a local backup
- Open the three dot menu and go to Settings.
- Tap Chats, then Chat backup.
- Press Back up and wait for it to finish.
- Find the backup folder in internal storage and copy it to a computer or cloud drive.
Restore on the same phone
Reinstall the app, verify your number and tap Restore when it finds the backup. Do not skip this screen, because it only appears once during setup.
Restore on a new phone
Copy the backup folder to the same path on the new phone before installing. Then install GB WhatsApp, verify your number and restore. If it is not detected, double check the folder name and location.
Good habits
Back up before every update, keep at least two copies in different places and test a restore once in a while so you know the process works.
A quick reminder
Menu names can differ slightly between builds. If you cannot find an option, look in the mod settings under Privacy, Chats or Universal.
